Public School And Home School Education System: Malaysia Education is important without any doubt. Education system in Malaysia can be separate into normal public school and home school system. In 1957, the Razak Report indicated that Malay language is the main medium of instruction . (Kusuma et al. 2001, pg 6) The English and Chinese school which accepted the government offer will become normal public school. (Kusuma et al. 2001, pg 5)In nineteenth century, there were only average families have the chance to home school. (A short history of home education ,2005)The term of public school is they do not need to pay for the tuition fee. (Definition of a school-content, 2010) Educate children instead of school is the definition of home school.(Ross, M 2008)The syllabus used in normal public school is KBRSM ,while the syllabus used in home school is IGSE O-level and A-level.(Kusuma et al. 2001,pg 17; Tan,BC 2011)Nowadays, home schooling become more well known ,the debate about home school better or normal school better is being discussed vigor ously .Different education system may produced different characteristic of students. Therefore, the aim of this investigation is to evaluate the normal public school system and home school system. Normal public school is producing better students than home school The advantages of normal public school One of the main advantages of normal public is the student is able to live in community. Public school provide large amount of opportunity to students, from a great deal of group project to team sports. (Advantages of Public schools, n.d.) According to the majority of survey respondents, public school students are typically capable to live in community. There are ninety two percent of respondent indicated that students in normal public school are able to live in community, as shown in figure 1. (Personal survey 2011) Figure 1 Other advantages are normal public school students gain a diverse social education. (Kusuma et al. 2001,pg 38) Normal public school provide variety of students that comes from different socioeconomic classes and background. Normal public school students has the chances to meet it and solving different point of view and understand people with various backgrounds and values. (Education Bug n.d.) In addition, there are wider extracurricular provided by the normal public school. Normal public school frequently offer a series of sports to a range of clubs and other opportunity. Normal public school mostly have the facilities such as swimming pool or purchase equipment ,such as laboratory equipment. Therefore, more curriculum are available in normal public school. (Education Bug n.d.) Moreover, student in normal public school is guarantee to have a teacher with teaching certificate. Public schoolà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s teacher is required to have a bachelorà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s degree and must pass in the Malaysian qualifications agencyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s exam (MQA). (Kusuma et al. 2001,pg 67) The disadvantages of home school The drawback of home school is the additional financial burden. The textbooks are usually expensive, the parents need to pay a premium price for it.(Pros and Cons of Homeschooling, 2008) Besides that, the curriculum needed is costly .The parents are require to spent on field trips, computer software, and materials for project. (Disadvantages of Home Schooling, 2002) Another disadvantage of home school is the teachers or parents are not qualified to teach all the subject. The teachers or parents may not have a degree in education. Moreover, parents are oblige to dedicate and tolerant to their child. (Negative effects of homeschooling, 2008) Furthermore, home school students will have the problem in social interaction. Home school students are less chances to interact and socialize. (Pros and Cons of Homeschooling, 2008)Home school students are at a disadvantage, because they do not have the opportunities to have relationship with their peers. (Disadvantages of Home Schooling, 2002) Responses from the survey indicate that sixty four percent of respondent are agree that home school will produced the student which is poor in social development,as shown in figure 2. (Personal survey 2011) Figure 2 Home school students 4.0 Conclusion Based on this data, one could say that the normal public school system is producing better students compared to home school system. Students in normal public school is learning within a group setting, it give a stage to the students to have the diverse social interaction. Moreover, normal public school is provided varies of curricular activities for the student. However, normal public school could not provide one to one attention to all the students. They could not learn within their own level. Nevertheless, this is provided by home school system. Home school students is lack of social interaction and some parents may not qualified to teach the subject. This is the drawback of home school system. Therefore, normal public school system is still a better education system for producing a better students if the government could reduce the number of student in a class. Abstract This investigation is discussed whether normal public school system or home school system is producing a better students. A variety of primary and secondary research were used including a survey, an internet source, book source to provide the evidence to support the conclusions. The major of findings indicate that the public school system is producing a better student. The public school students are able to learn within a group setting, and has diverse social interaction with peers. Moreover, there are varies of curricular activities provided in public school. The disadvantages of home school are usually more expensive and the parents may not qualified to teach the subject. It is also harder to provide social interaction. The benefit of home school is small to teacher ratio and the students able to learn within their level. While the drawback of public school is high student to teacher ratio and scheduled learning. Quality of a student will be affected by the education system. A good education system will produce a better student. The report concludes that it is important for everyone to know the definition of home school and public school, the pros and cons of public school and home school.

Media Corporations Profit from Violence      Ã‚   Whether it is a body found along the road, a school shooting, or planes flying into the World Trade Center, the images will be replayed over and over on Television ad nausea.. The most horrific acts may eventually be retold in books and movies. Packaging and selling the violence of the moment belongs to television - and television will keep reminding us of it.    The special custom-made armor covered his body from neck to toe. As the black-clad gunman wandered the street, randomly firing a high powered semi-automatic rifle at Los Angeles police, a city sat transfixed to their televisions, hypnotised by the unreal events unfolding outside their doors. When the LAPD realised that the gunman was covered with body armour, a call to aim for the head was shouted across their 2-way radios. The camera was in the perfect position to catch the shot. The black-clad bank robber firing at will suddenly jerked back, a jet of red exploding from his head. His legs buckled underneath him. His hands dropped the gun, but he was dead before they could reach for the massive wound. He never felt himself hit the ground. A few moments later, the television helicopter landed and began interviewing eyewitnesses. One middle-aged woman looked straight into the camera and deadpanned, "Things like this just don't happen in America."    In Amusing Ourselves To Death, Neil Postman states that "...The clearest way to see through a culture is to attend to its tools of conversation." If that is true, then the tool of conversation in America is television. Poetry Analysis Essay

Irony is a crucial literary device in the dramatic monologue My Last Duchess by Robert Browning. Actually, one of the most important things that can be said about Robert Browning is that he is a perfect ironist, and that irony is an important part of My Last Duchess. In, My Last Duchess, the Duke is projecting one image of himself, yet, through the ironic structure of the poem and the distance it imposes, his image is revealed to readers in a way that contradicts the Duke’s self-image. The Duke proposes an image of himself as gorgeous, wise, with nice attitudes and manners, an expert, a complete man. However, readers of the poem deduce a jealous or crazy psychopath, eaten out with insecurity. In the poem the warmth and sophistication of the Duke’s monolog draw the reader sympathetically into his world. Readers become actively involved in the egoism, haughtiness, and generosity of a proud Renaissance Duke. However, the irony of the poem every minute undermines this way of regarding situation, and awakens readers’ critical abilities. While the Duke describes how he murdered his first duchess quietly because she failed to focus her whole existence on him, readers see his unreasonableness; while he describes his generosity to his first wife, readers see his selfish desire to control another person within the confines of his own pleasures. According to the Duke his first wife was too easily made happy, too freewill, lacking in aristocratic haughtiness or composure: Was courtesy, she thought, and cause enough For calling up that spot of joy. She had A heart how shall I say? too soon made glad, Too easily impressed; she liked whate’er She looked on, and her looks went everywhere. She enjoyed many aspects of her life at court, and (as the Duke asserts) failed absolutely to focus her attention on him sufficiently. The Duke stresses that she should have been focused on him, and on the importance of his aristocratic descent – his ‘nine-hundred-years-old name’. Still, however much the Duke knows about himself, the reader who listens to him knows more, and the dramatic irony—the difference between the character’s and the reader’s knowledge—runs against him and in reader’s favor. It is the reader who sees how horrible is his haughtiness and brutality. The Duke does not see this himself. He sees himself as a generous and noble expert of art. As the reader decodes the irony, the Duke appears as a madman who reduces people to objects. When the wife of the Duke failed to be a good wife, the Duke did not let himself go below his dignity to reason with her, or explain how her behavior irritated him. He simply had her calmly executed, and began to think about a second marriage. After he has euphemistically told the envoy how he ‘gave commands’, i.e. gave orders for her murder, he points to the portrait and says: â€Å"There she stands, As if alive.† The irony is unexpected and horrible. Browning’s poetic monologue is full of irony. The Duke discloses far more than he really says about himself. Throughout the whole monologue, the Duke speaks in a calm, firm, ironical tone. The line ‘The depth and passion of its earnest glance’ is spoken in intense irony. Only once or twice the reader sees the teeth of this monster flash, showing his horrible heart. When he speaks of the ‘officious fool’ who brought the cherries, and when he states ‘all smiles stopped together’; then the envoy looks at him with fear in his eyes, but the Duke’s face instantly resumes its mask of stone. Browning’s character in the poem is projecting one image of himself, but the ironic structure of the poem reveals to readers completely opposite image. Works Cited Browning, Robert. The Poems. Ed. Hamlet and a Midsummer Nights Dream - 1870 Words

In one of AMND’s most enduring passages, Lysander states (Act one scene one, line 134) ‘The course of true love never did run smooth.’ The conflict that is inevitably born out of love is a central theme at the heart of Midsummer’s Night’s Dream and Hamlet, but is extended by Shakespeare not only to romantic relationships, but to familial bonds as well. The conflict is ultimately resolved in diametrically opposing ways in each play, according to the conventions of their respective genres. Hamlet is a tragedy, and therefore can result only in death, but AMND, as a comedy, uses the traditional method of marriage to resolve its conflict. Think yourself a baby.’ (1.3.105) Polonius convinces Ophelia that she has been naà ¯ve and stupid to believe Hamlet’s professions of love: ‘Affection? Pooh! You speak like a green girl.’ (1.3. 101) In Polonius’s dialogue, Shakespeare repeatedly employs images of Ophelia as a child to portray how her father psychologically controls her, by making her dependent on his commands, as a young child would: ‘I shall obey, my lord.’ (1.3.136) In AMND Shakespeare constructs a similar conflict around a father-daughter relationship, as Egeus wants his daughter Hermia, to marry Demetrius and not her lover, Lysander. Shakespeare draws upon ancient Greek mythology to portray his characters and their respective philosophies. Egeus displays Apollonian attributes as he paternalistically favours a strict adherence to the law above all else, even to the point of death: ‘As she is mine, I may dispose of her†¦or to her death according to our law.’ (1.1.43) Egeus commoditises his relationship with his daughter, as he considers her a possession to be controlled and exploited.
